We are the primary care provider for Fire and EMS protection in the City of Oneonta Alabama.

Emergency Medical Services is an essential part of the services that Oneonta Fire Department offers to the citizens and visitors within the City of Oneonta and the surrounding communities. Emergency medical calls make up approximately 60% of incidents at Oneonta Fire Department.
Our organization is staffed by a total of 15 Paramedics, 3 Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, and 2 Emergency Medical Technicians that operate 2 Advanced Life Support pumpers that are capable of delivering time critical interventions and life-saving techniques by utilizing some of the latest treatment protocols and procedures in the pre-hospital setting.
EMS training, education, and quality improvement is provided at the highest level by Oneonta Fire Department’s offline Medical Director Dr. Will Ferguson from UAB hospital. Dr. Ferguson is also the Medical Director for the Birmingham Regional EMS System and delivers a free continuing education program, Alabama EMS Challenge, that provides bi-monthly physician-led and evidence-based education to paramedics and nurses throughout the state of Alabama. He is 1 of only 369 physicians in the nation to hold the designation of Fellows of the Academy of Emergency Medical Services (FAEMS) and speaks locally, regionally, and nationally on EMS topics.
