Marion Kyle Dodd

KYLE DODD, 31, Oneonta, passed away July 28, 2020. His service with Oneonta Fire & Rescue Service began in 2009; he also served as a Captain with Center Point Fire District. Kyle was a highly trained firefighter paramedic. He completed training certification in multiple disciplines including firefighter suppression, hazardous materials, technical rescue, incident command/control, and fire service leadership. His fire service training was completed through the Alabama Fire College, National Fire Academy, and FEMA. Dodd was a dedicated member and leader at Oneonta Fire & Rescue as well as Center Point Fire District. During his service he participated in numerous organizational committees and activities including hiring new employees, health and wellness, fire hose, nozzles, and tools officer, honor guard, golf tournament board, combat challenge team, he also actively served the Blount County Fire & EMS Association Jr, Fire Academy and was instrumental in several community public outreach events.

 

During his career Kyle received multiple letters of commendation for life saving actions. In 2011and 2016 he was awarded the Chiefs Merit Award, in 2012 & 2015 he was awarded firefighter of the year and was also a recipient of a physical fitness excellence award.

Rex Allen Allred

Janurary 29, 1970

March 20, 2020

Rex Allen Allred, 50, of Oneonta, AL., passed away on March 20, 2020. He began his service with Oneonta Fire in 2013 as fireman/paramedic. Rex served in the Emergency Services profession in different capacities for nearly 20 years prior to being hired with Oneonta. Rex also served with Leeds Fire & Rescue Service and Blount EMS Ambulance. 

Rex was awarded the Chiefs Merit Award in 2016 and was a graduate of Herzing University. Rex was active in the Blount County Fire & EMS Association Jr. Fire Academy. He served the department in many aspects and took pride in education as a ACLS and PALS instructor. Rex served as the Vice President of his Firefighter Rookie Class.

Gary Michael
"Big Mike"
Moore

April 18, 1968
May 24, 2021

Gary Michael Moore, better known as “Big Mike”, 53, of Locust Fork, AL., passed away at Brookwood Medical Center on May 24, 2021. Michael was employed full-time at the Oneonta Fire Department and Locust Fork Fire Department. He served as Chaplain of Palmerdale Fire Department, he served in the Smyrna Fire Department for 15 years and Calhoun Fire Department for 8 years in Georgia. Mike served as a deacon at High Shoals Baptist Church in Dallas, Georgia; he served as youth pastor at Straight Mountain Baptist Church, Southside Church in Oneonta, and the First Independent Church in Oneonta. He was a member of Locust Fork Baptist Church and Union Hill Baptist Church in Oneonta.
